5 months!

I feel like I’m repeating myself every post with wow it goes so fast! I guess that’s good because I recall the first few weeks felt like they lasted an eternity.

Keelan is rolling both ways so we are working on not swaddling him and getting him to sleep in his crib. It’s a little iffy still.

We tried to feed solids but he doesn’t seem into it quite yet. I actually need to try again today.

He’s not sleeping all the way through the night but we are getting some nice five and six hour stretches. I’ll take it after the weeks of waking up every two or three hours.

I’m fascinated just watching him discover the world and interact with it. It seems he learns something new every day! I think he’s starting to ham it up for the camera now too, lol

Rollin, Rollin, Rollin

As the title suggests, we are now rolling! It goes like this: sit baby down on play mat, look away, look back and baby is face down arms flailing about.

He doesn’t quite have rolling back over figured out and is still not a big fan of tummy time. But with rolling comes learning to sleep unswaddled and transitioning to his crib. Big stuff on the horizon!

19 weeks and change is coming

It’s been quite an adventure these first 19 weeks. I feel like we are on the edge of a lot of things. We got our 4 month groove on but things are getting ready to change!

On the horizon – rolling, crawling, teething, crib sleeping, transition out of swaddle, eating solids

So much is about to change I’m trying not to freak out because I finally feel like I got this. I hear things start moving fast once they start rolling over. We aren’t quite there yet but we are working on teething. Everything goes in the mouth!

Four months!

Four months in and I still am trying to figure out balancing self, home, work and baby. There are a lot of highs where my heart feels too big for my chest and then there are moments I want to tear my hair out. More good than bad though! It’s worth every single moment.

A long overdue update

I remember when I started this blog and I’d blog once a day, sometimes even twice! It really helped me get through a lot and I’m grateful for the community I’ve become a part of and the other ladies I’ve become blogging buddies with. I’ve also seen a lot of them move on after having their babies. I totally understand, but I am really enjoying following the ones that are still posting baby progress. I’ve been terrible at doing updates, but I still try to catch up on all your posts every few days. Pumping does give me a lot of time stuck in a chair, playing on my phone.

I’ve been going back an forth what to do with this blog and decided I think I’m going to leave it as is. I probably won’t blog very much here anymore, but I will post a link to my new project once it gets going and hopefully some of you will join me there. I do plan to post a sporadic update now and then over here.

After Halloween I’m closing my boutique. I just really hate my son being in daycare all day. I can’t take him to work with me because I can’t ignore him while helping customers. At least in daycare he gets attention and mental stimulation.

So I’m closing up shop and starting a mommy blog called Adventures of Geek Mama (or something to that effect). I bought geekmamas.com so will point that to the site once I get it going. I think it will be a lot of fun and I’ll get some use out of my journalism degree finally.

I’m not jumping right in to the new project because I want to just take some time to finally sit back and enjoy motherhood without having my mind distracted by business. I cannot wait until after Halloween! I just have to make it through one more season since that’s my big money-making time. Then I can take a break 🙂

Almost 3 Months

I had a nice long post but my wordpress app was acting up and wouldn’t post or save draft. So now it is a short post with pics 🙂

Just over 11 weeks now and things get better every day! He gets more alert and spends more awake time not crying. I love it when he just hangs out with us and interacts. There’s a new coo or sound every day. And the smiles! I can’t get enough of them.

Happy 4th of July to everyone 🙂

We Survived Our Two Month Shots

Keelan got his two month check-up and first round of shots this week and it went a lot better than I thought. I read a ton of horror stories first, so I was prepared for the worse. As a side note, I keep accidentally typing shits instead of shots. Gives the post a whole new meaning…

He got three shots and a oral med. the needles were freakin huge! And this is from someone very used to needles. Two in one leg and one on the other. He turned beet red and screamed and cried. Right after I immediately swaddled and cuddled until he was soothed and then gave him a bottle. He was asleep by the time we got in the car.

No fever but he woke later crying and was a little fussy. He slept most of the day. Overall he took it really well and was back to normal the next day.

And he is now 10 lbs 2 oz and 23″ long!
